Frequently asked questions
Playing
How do I play Tallyfall?
Number tiles fall onto the board and stack up. Your job is to clear them before any column reaches the top.
- Read the rule on the yellow card, for example “Sum = 12”.
- Press on a tile and drag through neighbouring tiles (sideways, up, down or diagonally) to build a path.
- Let go. If your path fits the rule, the tiles pop and the tiles above drop down. If it doesn’t, you’ll see why, for example “4 + 9 = 13, not 12”.
- A new rule appears after each pop, so keep an eye on the “next” card.
While you drag, the falling tiles slow down, so you have time to think.
Prefer not to drag? Turn on tap-to-select in Settings → Accessibility: tap tiles one by one, then press OK. You can also play with the keyboard.
Not sure which mode to pick? Learn is calm and topic-based, Play is fast and endless, and the Daily challenge is the same puzzle for everyone each day.
What do the rules on the yellow card mean?
The yellow card shows the rule your path has to fit. The most common ones:
- Sum = 12: the tiles in your path must add up to exactly 12.
- Multiple of 8: the total must be 8, 16, 24 and so on.
- All even: every tile is 2, 4, 6 or 8 (at least 3 tiles).
- All odd: every tile is 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 (at least 3 tiles).
- All prime: every tile is 2, 3, 5 or 7.
- Ascending: each tile is bigger than the one before, in the order you drew them.
- Product = 24: the tiles multiplied together make 24.
If your path is too short for a rule, the game tells you and nothing is lost.
In Play you’ll also meet special tiles: a joker (?) counts as any number that makes the rule work, ×2 doubles the points, and a stone blocks paths until a tile next to it pops. Learn mode adds rules such as subtraction, division and fractions, each explained the first time you see it.
Purchases
How do I restore my purchases?
If you reinstalled the app or moved to a new phone, you can get your purchases back for free.
Tallyfall (mobile)
- Make sure your device is signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you used to buy.
- Open Tallyfall and go to Settings.
- Tap Restore purchases and wait a few seconds.
Tallyfall Kids
- Tap Grown-ups and complete the parental gate.
- Tap Restore purchases.
Purchases are linked to your store account, so they can only be restored on the same platform. Something bought on an iPhone can’t be restored on an Android device, and the other way round.
The web game at tallyfall.com/play has nothing to buy, so there is nothing to restore there.
Still missing something? Send us a message through the contact form and include your app version. Step-by-step help for each store is on Purchases and refunds.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases made in the Tallyfall or Tallyfall Kids app are processed by Apple or Google, so we can’t refund them ourselves. The store decides under its own policies, and your consumer rights are not affected.
App Store (iPhone, iPad)
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
- Choose “Request a refund”, pick a reason and select the Tallyfall purchase.
Google Play (Android)
- Open your order history in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions in the app, or play.google.com on the web).
- Find the Tallyfall order and choose “Request a refund” or “Report a problem”.
School class licences are paid directly to us. Email [email protected] with your invoice number and we’ll help.
Bought something by mistake, or a child bought it? Mention that in your store request. More detail is on Purchases and refunds.
I bought Remove ads but I still see ads. Why?
Sorry about that. It usually comes down to one of these:
- Different store account or device. Remove ads is linked to the Apple ID or Google account you bought it with. Check that this device is signed in to the same account.
- Not restored yet. On a new phone or after reinstalling, go to Settings → Restore purchases.
- The app needs a restart. Close Tallyfall completely and open it again so it picks up your purchase.
- The Continue button. After a game over you can continue once. Without Remove ads that means watching a short video. With Remove ads, Continue works with no ad at all, and it’s always optional.
Ads in Tallyfall only appear at game over, never in the middle of a game. Tallyfall Kids and the web game have no ads at all.
Still seeing ads after these steps? Use the contact form and tell us your device, app version and roughly when you bought it.
Parents
What is the parental gate?
Tallyfall Kids keeps purchases, store links, outside links, class settings and the parent report behind a parental gate, so children can’t open them by accident.
Tallyfall is a maths game, so a sum would be too easy for kids. The gate works differently:
- You’ll see a 4-digit number written in words, for example “one thousand four hundred seventy-two”.
- Type it in digits: 1472.
- Press and hold Confirm for 3 seconds.
After 3 wrong tries the gate locks for 60 seconds. The number changes every time.
The gate is a speed bump, not a password, so keep an eye on young children when the device is unlocked. Learn more in the Tallyfall Kids privacy notice and the parent guide.
Classes
How do I join my teacher's class?
Your teacher will give you a 6-character class code or a link like tallyfall.com/join/ABC123.
With a code
- Open Tallyfall Kids and tap Grown-ups.
- Complete the parental gate (a parent or teacher can help).
- Tap Join a class and type the code.
With a link
Open the link on the device. If Tallyfall Kids is installed, it opens the Join a class screen with the code filled in. If not, you’ll be taken to the store to install it first.
Students join with a nickname only. The teacher sees the nickname and game progress, never an email address or real name.
Code not working? Check for mix-ups like 0 and O, and ask your teacher whether the class is full (up to 35 students) or the trial has ended. Teachers can find more help in the teacher guide.
Privacy
How do I delete my data?
You can ask us to delete your game data at any time.
In the app
- Tallyfall: open Settings → Privacy → Delete my data.
- Tallyfall Kids: tap Grown-ups, complete the parental gate, then choose Delete my data.
- Confirm. Your scores, nickname and progress linked to this device are removed.
Without the app
Use the data deletion form and give us your nickname or device key and an email address we can reply to.
We process every request within 30 days and email you when it’s done. Some records, such as invoices for school licences, have to be kept for legal reasons; the form page explains which.
Uninstalling the app on its own doesn’t delete data on our servers. Purchases stay with your Apple or Google account, so you can still restore them later. Questions? Write to [email protected].
Technical
Is my progress the same on the web and on my phone?
Not at the moment, and we’d rather tell you upfront.
- Web game (tallyfall.com/play): your best scores, settings and Learn progress are saved only in that browser on that device. Clearing your browser data or using a private window resets them.
- Mobile apps: progress is saved on the device. An anonymous device key links your scores and purchases on that device, without an account or email.
So your phone and your browser keep separate progress, and nothing moves between devices automatically. Purchases can be restored on the same store account (see Purchases and refunds).
The Daily challenge is the same puzzle everywhere, so you can play it on any device, but each device keeps its own result.
We’d like to add syncing later. If it matters to you, tell us through the contact form.
How do I report a bug?
Thanks for helping us make Tallyfall better.
- In the app, go to Settings → Help (in Tallyfall Kids it’s in the Grown-ups area). This opens our support page with your app version and platform already filled in. On the web, go straight to the contact form.
- Choose the topic Game.
- Tell us:
- what you were doing (mode, level or Daily challenge),
- what you expected and what happened instead,
- your device and operating system,
- whether it happens every time.
- Send. A screenshot helps a lot; you can email it to [email protected] with your ticket number.
We reply within 2 business days. For security issues, please write to [email protected] instead.
